The Best Mattress... and a little about JLife, Int., June 18, 2011 By Laurajean (New Hampshire, USA) - See all my reviews This review is from: J-Life Japanese Traditional Shiki Futon - FULL SIZE (shikibuton) I just purchased a full size a bed frame, shikifuton mattress, 3 buckwheat pillows, a mattress cover, and extra matching material from JLife international. I dealt with them directly, not through Amazon, but I wanted to put my review here to be seen. The mattress is incredible, exactly what I had hoped it would be. It is NOT for everyone. You must desire an EXTRA FIRM support. If you're hoping for the effect of a pillow top mattress, or a tempurpedic type mattress, this probably isn't for you. I have discovered, after many years, that I need a VERY firm mattress. I've actually slept on a carpeted floor with only a comforter beneath me to get this effect. In recent years, I bought a platform bed and used a foam mattress topper ONLY, without the mattress, in an attempt to get a very firm sleeping surface. This did work, but I recently moved and needed something new. I discovered this mattress, which I could only find through JLife International. I just received it, and I love it. It... Read more

Counterpoint to those who had to wait forever..., October 30, 2011 By This review is from: J-Life Japanese Traditional Shiki Futon - FULL SIZE (shikibuton) I almost didn't order this futon because of the reviews saying that they had waited for a month with no contact from J-life, but as others have said I couldn't really find anything comparable and I wanted something made in the USA.
I ordered it on a Thursday morning, and it was sitting outside my door the next day. Now, in the interest of full disclosure, I only ordered the mattress, no cover, no pillows, nothing else. Maybe those items are what delayed other's orders. Also, it shipped out of New Hampshire, and I live in New York, so it didn't have too far to go, but the main point is that it shipped out the same day I ordered it and J-life contacted me immediately with a tracking number.
I've only had a couple nights with it, but as far as comfort and quality go I couldn't be happier so far.

Concerned about a fed-ex delivery when I am away at work all day, I wrote to the company first. I received a reply within 24 hours saying I could request a Saturday delivery. To simplify things, I ordered just the futons and nothing else. I ordered on a Sunday, made the request for Saturday delivery with a mention of the name of the man who answered my email, and the futons arrived the following Saturday with no problem. The futons were shipped out of New Hampshire and I am in Brooklyn, NY. They just arrived, but so far they seem to be just as described and very comfy. I have been sleeping on a futon for years, so they're actually much softer than I was expecting after reading the reviews here. I suppose if I was used to a regular mattress it would take more getting used to.
